ORIENTATION - “ERDs should represent and be oriented to the actual floor arrangement as viewed by the building occupants. This means that the top of the diagram should be oriented in the direction the reader is facing.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 8.)
CADD STUDIO plans are rotated so that you don’t have to imagine yourself upside down to read the map and to know how to evacuate the building.
“ERDs should contain only the information necessary for the occupant to become oriented to and locate the egress path(s) from their location. (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.)
CADD STUDIO plans show only the text necessary to direct the reader to safety.
“ERDs should only cover the area/floor of the facility that contains the primary and secondary routes.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.1.)
CADD STUDIO plans limit the portion of the building shown. This allows the scale of the plans to be larger and easier to read.
IN COLOR- “Optimally, signs should be provided in color to more easily distinguish primary and secondary routes.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.2.)
CADD STUDIO plans are brightly colored with red frames to distinguish them as containing emergency information
YOU ARE HERE -“The current location should be…labeled “YOU ARE HERE” in capital letters.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.3.)
CADD STUDIO plans have a bright yellow oval that quickly catches the reader’s attention.
ROUTES - “The primary path of egress should be represented by a continuous, solid red line with directional arrow from the Current Location to the primary exit.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.6.1.)
“The secondary path of egress should be represented by a continuous, dashed blue line with a directional arrow from the Current Location to the secondary exit.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.6.2.)
CADD STUDIO plans have the primary and secondary routes “sanded” so the reader can quickly find and follow the route.
ASSEMBLY LOCATIONS -“The ERD should display point(s) of assembly for building occupants to gather and to be accounted.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.11.)
CADD STUDIO plans list the assembly point and allow the customer to denote different assembly points for different sections of the building.
TEMPORARY SHELTER - Temporary shelters should be marked by dashed double red lines.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.5.)
CADD STUDIO plans show severe weather shelters as red hatched areas.
EXITS -“Exits should be marked by a rectangle marked “EXIT” in red capital letters. (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.4.)
CADD STUDIO plans mark the actual exit from the building for both evacuation routes.
FRAMES - “ERDs should be durable and not subject to deterioration such as fading and tearing. (ASTM E2238-02 Section 7.1.)
CADD STUDIO plans are mounted in 16”X16”, matted red anodized aluminum frames with Plexiglas fronts and ready to hang.
Tamper resistant mounting hardware is available from CADD STUDIO.
PLACEMENT -“Facilities should consider placing ERDs in every room, at each exit (if there are multiple room exits), and in large occupancy areas every 50-75 ft.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 9.1.)
TITLE - “The top of the ERD should display a title indicating the floor number.” (ASTM E2238-02 Section 5.1.1.)
CADD STUDIO plans have bold red lettered title blocks and show the floor number for building with multiple floors.
