FAQs

On Emergency Evacuation Plans

1. ARE THEY REQUIRED BY LAW?

No they are not required by law but are required my most insurance carriers and Safety Departments.

2. WHAT DOES "LOCATION SPECIFIC" MEAN?

CADD Studio Evacuation Plans are location specific meaning that if you are looking at the plan location and it says you are here – beside the vending machines – and it indicates to go left to exit the room – that is exactly what you do. If the Evacuation Plan was on the opposite wall the plan would be rotated 180 degrees and it would then indicate that you would go right to evacuate the room. An on CADD Studio Evacuation Plans only enough of the building floor plan is shown to get you out of the area safely with two ways with a primary and secondary route. We do not show the entire building floor plan with a tiny dot indicating you are here.

3. HOW MANY PLANS DO I NEED?

That will depend on the complexity of the floor plan and the number of exits but we will be happy to give you an estimate on the number of plans at no charge before we begin the project.

4. WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON AN EVACUATION PLAN?

-fire extinguisher locations
-fire alarm pull station locations
-emergency phone number
-assembly locations for each group so they can quickly be accounted for
-storm shelter locations
-spill kit locations

5. WHAT TYPE OF FRAME DO YOU USE?

-red anodized aluminum frames to differentiate these from other artwork
-Plexiglas fronts
-both matted and non-matted
-available with secure hardware to prevent someone from moving or taking plans
-available in a PHOTOLUMENESCENT media that glows in the dark for 45 min. -allowing a save evacuation in the absence of lighting or power.

6. WHAT TYPE OF DOOR IS AN "EVACUATION" DOOR?

An “evacuation” door to the exterior of the building would include panic hardware so it could easily be opened from the inside, it would always swing to the outside of the building, and would be labeled with an “exit” above the door.

7. WHAT DOES CADD STUDIO NEED FROM ME TO START THE PROCESS?

-Plans that you have on hand today
-We will put these into CAD format and return for you to update and verify exit door locations. You will then return these "marked-up" plans and we will make the changes to your facility drawings giving you an updated set of facility prints.
-We will then send you proof copies of the individual EVACUATION PLANS to approve / correct. Once we have these PROOF'S back we prepare the final framed EVACUATION PLANS and return.
-As your facility changes in the future just take the EVACUATION PLAN down and mark the changes. Return to us and we will be glad to make the updates to the drawings.

8. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "PHOTOLUMENESCENT"?

We have found a media to place under our clear Evacuation Plans so that they will glow significantly for about 45 minutes in the event of an evacuation when there is no lighting present. We encourage you to ask us for a sample of this product to inspect yourself before ordering the plans.
